Story From An Old Man

My Sons,

The Earth is changing! I wish to let you know how the Earth was, long long time ago, before I’m unable to breath anymore. My dad used to do that before he died, at the age of 70.

During his time, when he was still a child, people can live up to 90 years old. Even some Japanese can survive up to 110 years old. They built their house by wooden materials and cement. They were travelling around by motorcycles and bicycles. The wealthy might own a car. They could see blue sky, blue ocean, running rivers, jungle and many animals like tiger and bear. They live happily by hunting those animals for food and chopping trees for many purposes.

Then, years later, when I was a kid, the world’s eldest person died when she was 72 years old. Peoples continue to hunt animals for food, but much smaller animals, like chickens and pigs. Tiger and bear were just available in zoos. They continue to clean up jungles and forests to obtain raw materials and spaces for development.
Cars are the most common vehicles in their daily activities. Meanwhile, another great product from the scientists is plastic -- a multi-purpose material.

Petroleum was the most important thing for human being to survive. We obtain energy from the burning of this unique liquid. Daily, tones of crude oil being suck out from the inner layer of the earth crust. People used it without planning, wasting it…. Oceans were covered by a layer of oil.

The sky was always grey, with dust and other substances emitted from factories that were built, like trees in at the jungle.
Rivers were polluted by rubbish and so on…
People still wasting water….. Global warming started to raise the Earth’s temperature. Icebergs were melting.....

Today, statistic shows that human beings can survive for at most 50 years. Kids don’t know what are trees and grass. They only see fish and chicken in the museums. But, technologies are much much advances. Peoples do not need to eat. We obtain body cell’s requirement from injection, a liquid contains many chemically manufactured molecules. We do not bath anymore, and our skin become hydrophobic. We just drink 0.5 liter of water everyday, as water become the most expensive matter in the world, expensive then petroleum which cost 300USD per liter. Water, only produced by machines which extract and filter atmospheric moisture to from water.

The average temperature of the world reaches 60 degree Celsius. Icebergs were gone. Thousands of islands flooded by salty water. Nobody knows what is iceberg, how an iceberg looks like. No more beach, but rubbish embankment; no more sunlight penetrates through the sky, but darkness beyond the dusty, polluted sky, without ozone. The oceans now become black, sticky and shiny swamp pot. On the land, rubbish and plastic had replaced soil and sand which cannot be seen anymore, anywhere. Jungle..........
River………..

People are dying, but don’t know what they are doing. Lives, become meaningless……….
